Police bodycam catches moment drug dealer trying to escape by jumping out of a 3rd floor window

A desperate drug dealer who tries to escape out of a third floor window as a police officer clings to him has been jailed.

The dramatic moment County Lines drug dealer Jack Evans tries to evade capture by jumping out of a window in St John's was caught on police-worn bodycam.

A quick-thinking officer manages to grab him and Evans is pulled to safety - and arrested for his part in a county lines drug network.

Jack Evans, 24, of Ploughman’s Way in Droitwich, pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday) and was sentenced to three years and four months for possession with intent to supply heroin.

He also pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and cocaine and possession of criminal property.

On Wednesday, October 25 last year, officers from the South Worcestershire County Lines Team and our Task Force executed a warrant at a property in the St John’s area of Worcester.

Evans was found inside along with Class A drugs, mobile phones, £740, scales and a knife.

The warrant followed an extensive investigation into longstanding and persistent County Lines drug dealing operating in Worcester.

A county line is the telephone number, or ‘deal line’, used to run the organised drug-dealing network - often from large metropolitan cities into smaller county towns and cities.

Detective Constable Alex Pullen, from South Worcestershire County Lines Drugs Team, said: “You will see from the body worn footage the lengths Evans went to try and evade arrest. If it wasn’t for the quick thinking of our officers, Evans could have been badly injured from jumping out of a third-floor window.

“We are pleased with the outcome in court yesterday. This sentencing follows extensive work from the team who are committed and determined to stop drug supply.

"The upset these people bring to our community is immeasurable, and we shall continue to bring anybody involved in drug activity to justice”.

The sentence forms part of Operation Target, which sees West Mercia Police work closely with other forces and partners to tackle serious and organised crime and the harm it causes.
