Clark Gable was born a 123 years ago, on Feb. 1, 1903. In his time period he was one of Hollywood's leading star. In 1934, MGM loaned out Clark Gable to a "minor studio" at that time, for punishment, to Columbia Pictures. The director was not as well known at that time, Frank Capra. According to Frank Capra's autobiography, Mr. Gable came to his office, drunk. Capra explained to Gable about the movie he was going to be in. Gable just let out a loud burp.
The punishment blew up in MGM's face. It is seen as one of the greatest films ever made. It Happened One Night is the first of only three films (along with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and The Silence of the Lambs) to win all five major Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Clark Gable's punishment won him an Oscar for best actor!
I uploaded a "dress rehearsal" recording, the day before the actual broadcast. The rehearsal went very well. I hope that you enjoy it.
