However, the youngster they had admitted to killing turned up at his mother's house unhurt a few months later, leaving a mystery that is still unsolved over a century later.

A woman from Yeongcheon village suddenly found a mutilated corpse on a neighboring mountain on April 29, 1930. Since there weren't many crimes at the time, the entire hamlet was interested in the murder inquiry. The youngster was strangled with a little towel close to his body, causing his corpse to be unrecognizable despite the beating, according to the police investigating the murder.
