NBC26 Storm Shield weather forecast

Our next storm system moves in late tonight. At this time, it appears that precipitation will start off as snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning. A dusting to a few inches may fall initially, especially up towards the Northwoods. As warmer air surges in precipitation will turn over to mainly rain during the day Thursday. Most of us in Green Bay and the Fox Cities will see this chageover to rain in the morning. The Northwoods should be a little later. It's going to be windy and warm afternoon highs in the low-40s. Areas of light rain will continue in the evening on Thursday before a bit of a lull late. It's going to be a warm night with temps in the mid-upper 40s. Then as the storm moves out of the area Friday, and rain will turn back to some lingering snow with another inch or so possible. Morning highs will will be in the 40s before falling in the 20s by late afternoon. Those falling temps may cause a few problems going into Friday night with that water, or bit of snow accumulation, sitting around and then freezing going into the night. That could create some slippery roads. Colder weather returns over the weekend with temperatures topping out in the low-20s on Saturday to around 30 on Sunday with some sun. It really gets colder by next Tuesday with temps not making it out of the teens for highs. Welcome to January!!
