Secret History of Britain 3: The World of Geoffrey of Monmouth

In 1136, a monk called Geoffrey of Monmouth published a book in Latin, saying it was a translation of an old book in Welsh. Its English translation is 'The History of the Kings of Britain'. Geoffrey's book was a best-seller for its times. More importantly, it introduced the world to 'King Arthur'. In this episode, we are going to explore the world in which Geoffrey lived. In doing so, we discover that his motives for translating the book were probably political. For not only was the old book genuine but his translation was done for a very specific reason.
