Harnwell: Ukraine In Turmoil As Zelensky Asks Commander-In-Chief To Resign-Who Has Refused

BREAKING President Zelensky has asked General Zaluzhny — the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces — to resign. And the general refused. Also being reported is that Zelensky had intended to formally fire his CinC, but backed down at the last moment. Hence the rumours that Zaluzhny had actually been fired.Show more

I speculate the reason Zelensky blinked is — in anticipation of Zaluzhny’s refusal to go — a doubt over whom the army would have remained loyal to. Especially given the direction of the war, this is not an ambiguity that can remain unresolved — sooner or later one side will now make a move against the other.
