"We’re a Premiership city, we’ve got to behave like a Premiership city. If we’re a Premiership city but behave like we’re League Two, we’ll be demoted"

The mayor of Bristol has defended his decision to fly 3,500 miles to the COP28 Climate Change summit in Dubai, and said that Bristol ‘is a Premiership city that risks being relegated to League Two’ if he doesn’t go.

It will be the second trip abroad in the space of just a three weeks for Marvin Rees, who was in Rwanda for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting last week, at the same time the city council took the decision to evacuate 400 residents of Barton House over building safety concerns.
