Ground could be broken this year on a downtown Kalamazoo event center and arena

Greenleaf Trust's Bill Johnston unveiled drawings of the 380-thousand square foot center that would be built along Kalamazoo Avenue, Westnedge Avenue, and Water Street. Kalamazoo County sold the land to Greenleaf Trust in April for four-point-two-million-dollars. The Kalamazoo Wings and Western Michigan University hockey and basketball would play there, replacing the Wings Event Center, University Arena, and Lawson Ice Arena.
