Palestinian boy sells goods in torrential rain

Footage has been shared online of a Palestinian boy sitting alone in the pouring rain, selling goods at a small table in Gaza. The boy is clearly cold and in some discomfort as the rainwater pools around him, but he continues to sit.

The video has drawn international attention to the plight of children in Gaza, and comes amid warnings from the United Nations Human Rights Office that the region is becoming ‘completely uninhabitable’ due to Israeli attacks on infrastructure and exacerbated by winter conditions. More than 90% of Gaza’s 2.3 million people are thought to have been displaced since Israel’s military operation began.
