She holds a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA, as well as master's and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA. During her academic journey, she served as a research associate at Honeywell Solid State Research Center in Bloomington, Minnesota, for nine years.
