1 killed,1 injured in overnight shooting

One person is dead and another person is injured following an overnight shooting, the Fort Myers Police Department said. It happened shortly before midnight at 959 Polk Street. Police say they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene. The male, identified as 40-year-old Kevin Lamont James succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene, FMPD said. The woman, who has not yet been identified, was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital where she remains being treated for her wounds. The identity of a possible shooter has not been released.
