Revelation 7 - The 144,000 And The Multitude 1/27/24

After the great earthquake and chaos of the 6th seal, there is an interlude before the 7th, dealing with 2 sets of people. The first is the 144,000 sealed Israelites and the second is the multitude who worship before the throne. Who are they and why are we told about them?
