Despite not wanting to acknowledge it publicly, the DemocRAT party has tapped Gavin Newsom as a stand-in just in case Biden either dies or his brain does a permanent 404 error. Not exactly stealthy, since Gavin is actively campaigning for a presidential race he isn't officially running in.
