23ABC Storm Shield Forecast 1/19/18

This well advertised storm gives us our best rain in the valley for the first half of the day, then we're dry by sunset with lingering showers in the foothills. Bakersfield is now looking to pick up about a tenth of an inch of rain today. This morning the snow level is hovering around 7,000 feet this morning. That snow line drops down to pass level after sunset at 5 p.m., with accumulating snow on the Grapevine and Hwy 58 overnight and blowing snow making for low visibility. If you're traveling over the passes, it's best to get over before 5 p.m. or wait until tomorrow morning. As for totals, the Hwy 58 pass through Tehachapi looks to collect an inch or two by sunrise while the top of the Grapevine looks to get 1-4 inches.
