Break a Leg the Butterflies Away

Break a Leg the Butterflies Away:

We will be as fast as wind; click, clack
We will be smooth as silk; rhythm, beat
We enter the atrium; pitch black
Sweaty palms, face, and feet

Guided, we shuffle between stanchions
Guided, we link, hand to shoulder
Guided, we slink through expansions
Fevered head; shiver and smolder

Our feet ascend to the stage
Our feet stand; X underneath
Our feet poised; we’re on the same page
Butterflies dance with syncopation and teeth

The curtain climbs to reveal the crowd, band, and lights
The music swells; shimmering sequence, taps, and tights.
