Through the years of growing microgreens and starting seeds in the green houses, we discuss LED grow lights as we set up our 2024 seed racks with the lights.

In my video titled "We install grow lights and regular lights. Does it matter?", I, Ryan from Backroads Homestead, demonstrate the process of setting up LED growing racks using various LED grow lights. I have an assortment of lights, including full-spectrum white shop lights and specialized grow lights, mostly acquired from Amazon and big box stores. My goal is to find out which lights are more effective for plant growth.

Throughout the video, I show how to connect up to six lights in a daisy chain and stress the importance of using strong zip ties. I specifically recommend 11-inch zip ties for their strength. I also share a modification I made to some of the lights by removing the heat shield. This allows more heat to reach the plants, although it does make the lights less structurally rigid.

I share insights from my experience, noting that regular full-spectrum shop lights perform just as well as specialized grow lights for plant growth. This discovery is a significant one, indicating that effective gardening doesn't require expensive, specialized equipment.

Towards the end of the video, I mention my plans to start seeding and make additional adjustments to the setup. I wrap up by asking viewers to subscribe and support my channel, expressing my concern that the channel is being restricted due to its focus on sustainability topics.
