The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, holds public hearings on the request for the indication of provisional measures submitted by South Africa in the case South Africa v. Israel.

SABC NewsSouth Africa has contended before the International Court of Justice that Israel has violated the Genocide Convention of 1948. Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola says they owe it to the Palestinians to ensure that they get justice. Pretoria has dragged Israel to the World Court as the conflict worsens in Gaza and it wants Israel to halt its military operation, The South African team wants the World Court to step in.
