Description:

Ada Police responded to a report of a suspected drunk driver. The officers located the vehicle and identified the driver as 33-year-old Justin Glaspey. The officers found the vehicle at Wal-Mart and tried to initiate a traffic stop. However, Glaspey fled, disobeyed a stop sign, and endangered others before eventually stopping in another parking lot. Police reported that Glaspey was intoxicated, confrontational, and refused to leave his vehicle, locking himself inside.

An attempt by the police to use a taser was countered by Glaspey, who managed to grab the taser wires and throw them back at an officer, striking him in the arm and leg. Additional officers arrived at the scene, equipped with a pepper ball gun. Glaspey eventually exited his truck but continued to defy police instructions. While on the ground, he resisted handcuffing, not allowing officers to take hold of his hands. Lacking batons, the officers resorted to using physical force, punching Glaspey in the face and striking his shoulders to subdue and handcuff him. During the altercation, Glaspey bit one officer's hand and struck another in the groin.

Glaspey was arrested and faces charges including driving under the influence, threatening an act of violence, assault and battery on a police officer, aggravated assault and battery on a police officer, resisting an officer, obstruction, and eluding an officer while endangering others. He is currently detained without bond at the Pontotoc County Justice Center.
