The Grand Rapids Fire Department is warning residents about the dangers of large icicles
10 months ago

Fire officials say they've had multiple calls this week where large icicles fell off roofs and caused gas leaks and fires. Fire crews also urge residents to ensure that intake and exhaust for furnaces are clear of snow outside, because if they are blocked they can cause carbon monoxide to build up inside a home. They add that when large chunks of ice or snow begin to melt and fall off roofs, they can block intake and exhaust lines.
