Nikki Haley Cries Racism

Former Gov. of South Carolina Nikki Haley made headlines when she told NBC News that she was teased for being “brown” as a kid in South Carolina.

On one hand, Republicans like the idea of a Nikki Haley or a Tim Scott telling them that everything is all right, America is not racist, they are not racist. They have been absolved of their sins. This is literally the function of such politicians because otherwise they don’t have much to offer. But what happens if one of them says, actually, yes, America is racist. Doesn’t that defeat their original purpose?
