On Tuesday, a jury found Kevin Monahan, 66, guilty of second-degree murder for fatally shooting 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis in upstate New York.

The incident occurred last April on a Saturday night when Gillis and her friends mistakenly entered Monahan’s rural driveway near the Vermont border while searching for another house.

The jury deliberated for less than an hour before also convicting Monahan of reckless endangerment and tampering with physical evidence.

The Gillis family’s attorney and spokesperson, Donald Boyajian, expressed gratitude for the trial’s outcome, the Associated Press reported.
