Recording reveals AZ Republican trying to bribe Kari Lake not to run for Senate

A leaked audio recording obtained by DailyMail.com captures the remarkable moment when Jeff DeWit, 51, the chair of the Arizona Republican Party, allegedly attempted to persuade prominent figure Kari Lake to abstain from participating in the state’s Senate race.

The recording, dated the beginning of March last year, reveals DeWit, a key figure in Arizona’s GOP, asking Lake, 54, a close ally of Donald Trump, to disclose the amount she would require to refrain from engaging in politics for the next two years.

During the conversation, DeWit mentions the influence of powerful individuals who desire to keep Lake out of the political arena.

Despite Lake’s association with Trump’s MAGA movement and her frequent mention as a potential 2024 vice-presidential candidate, DeWit suggests that it’s time for a change, expressing his belief that Trump is likely to lose.

Cautioning Lake not to share details of their discussion, DeWit proceeds to make his initial offer. “So the ask I got today from back east was: “Is there any companies out there or something that could just put her on the payroll to keep her out?”

“This is about defeating Trump and I think that’s a bad, bad thing for our country,” she responded, the Daily Mail reported.
