New Jersey Port Authority officials collected $25 million in back tolls and fees from toll evaders in 2023. That’s an increase over what was recovered in 2022, and includes money from seven companies and three individuals who were court ordered to repay almost $1.3 million owed to the bi-state agency. Police at the Port Authority also issued more summonses last year against toll evaders and to drivers who try covering up or concealing their license plate numbers to avoid detection by cameras and license plate readers. This guy had a little screen that would cover his plates with a press of a button from inside the vehicle He saved over 5k dollars in toll fees but somehow got caught and now owes over 20k dollars in fines.
