First off, thank you to everyone who submitted requests for the show this week. Some you may know, some you may never heard of. You made up 33% of this show. You made this show a lot of fun to put together. Meaning, on my part, the other 14 songs, I have to deliver and you made me seek through my brain and think, "What the fuck am I going to sync with all of this great music? And I'm very proud of the Featured Band of the Week and the video I made for it. Thank you for pushing my limits. It was extremely rewarding. Give yourself a pat on the back folks and a round of applause. Music for the people, by the people!"

One with the show...

Asterius, the Minotaur and the Labyrinth is one of my favorite stories of Greek Mythology. A story of love, distrust, and betrayal, that turned into a story of rage ending in a final battle that Theseus, himself a monster killer and son of both King Aegeus, and by what historians have debated, was also considered a son of Poseidon, the sea god. Half Human/Half god.

Just like in rock and metal music, the same stories remain that can, in some way, mirror that story.

Lives built in love, some…evolving to distrust, betrayal, and then finally…rage. And then the emptiness sets in. We go through the stages of loss. And hope one day that those emotions eventually go away. Making peace with the monster we’ve fought inside each and every one of us to overcome. Our own battle with our inner labyrinth with the evil of the minotaur that is our emotions and the hero which is our soul.

Musicians are a special breed when they can take those emotions and marry them to both music and melody. Using it to kill the beasts inside them and overcoming their emotions and helping others with their music.

Whether it be as soft as a ballad or as bludgeoning as a breakdown, or as uplifting as a party song to the quiet heaviness of a road trip song. All songs made by rock and metal musicians start with stories or lives filled with the emotions of the past.

Using them to create something that when we’re at metal festivals make us cry out in rage at our government like Pantera did for the Soviet Metalheads when Phil Anselmo said, “LET IT ALL OUT!”at Monsters of Rock in September 1991 and those soviet headbangers let their government know they were tired of the Kremlin’s shit, or have us cry in pain, “Unstable” – Life of Agony or have us heading to the bar in shifts to get more beer and shots at the VFW or your favorite watering hole, Van Halen – “Summer Nights”, awareness, “Vote with a Bullet-COC and Wrong Side of Heavy, Five Finger Death Punch, remembrance…“Rose of Sharon”-Killswitch Engage and …In Loving Memory of-Alter Bridge.

The songs on this week’s show, will bring you through those emotions. Will you become Asterius and rage or will you become Theseus, the god son. Let us know in the comment section below.
