Lazarus Weekend

Twice a year, our denomination hosts a long weekend retreat called Lazarus Weekend. It gets its name from the story of the resurrection of Lazarus. If you feel like you are carrying around grave clothes of guilt, shame, fear, racing thoughts, PTSD, unforgiveness, uncontrolled behaviors and habits, then a Lazarus Weekend may be for you, and this teaching will explain what it is and what to expect.

Lazarus was brought back to life, he had a personal revival, you could say. When we come into the Kingdom of God our spirits are brought from death to life in Christ Jesus. But, as we grow in the Lord, there are times we need to be revived, revitalized, brought up to a new level of living – we need personal revival. Also, like Lazarus, when we come into this new life in Jesus, we are covered over with grave clothes – all the baggage, traumas, bad attitudes and behaviors that are carried over from our old life. We need inner healing and healing of memories to get rid of those grave clothes. Although it’s possible to do that by ourselves, it is much more effective and efficient when a team of 2-4 prayer ministers can be there to pray with us and help guide the healing process in the Holy Spirit.

Personal revival and inner healing is what the Lazarus weekends are all about. This teaching describes a Lazarus Weekend, and then tells stories of people receiving inner healing and healing of memories.
