The wide grip cable row is a strength-training exercise that primarily targets the muscles of the upper back, including the latissimus dorsi. To perform this exercise correctly:
1. Stand in front of a cable machine with a wide grip attachment.
2. Grab the handles with an overhand grip, hands placed wider than shoulder-width apart.
3. Keep your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and maintain a straight back.
4. Pull the handles towards your lower chest, squeezing your shoulder blades together.
5. Maintain control throughout the movement, and slowly return the handles to the starting position.
6. Focus on engaging your back muscles and avoid using momentum.
This exercise helps improve upper back strength and promotes good posture. Ensure proper form to maximize effectiveness and minimize the risk of injury.
