The game was a defensive battle throughout – there were no offensive touchdowns scored and both teams combined for only 439 total yards of offense. The game-winner came on a team record 95-yard punt return touchdown by Desmond Howard late in the third quarter that gave Detroit a 14-7 lead. New Orleans drove 58 yards to get to the Lions’ 21-yard line in the final minute of the game, but Boyd broke up the Saints’ fourth-and-two pass attempt from Jeff Blake-to Williams to seal the win.
