Ancient Christianity in Ancient Georgia

The Virgin Mary intended to preach the Gospel of her Son to the inhabitants of the country of Georgia, but instead she ended up claiming territory for those wishing to be saved in what would later blossom into the monastic settlement of Mt. Athos. The blessed Virgin appeared to St. Nino in 323 AD, and instructed her to go and preach Christ to the country which fell to her by lot.
