Treacherous Cyclonic ICE STORM, freezing rain, threatens driving conditions from South to Northeast!

Temperatures at this time will be near or slightly below freezing, thus a period of ice accumulation is expected. Ice accumulation will vary considerably across the region as temperatures begin to rise above freezing, however slick spots on roadways should be anticipated with associated travel impacts.

A broad zone of low-amplitude cyclonic flow aloft is forecast to encompass the western U.S. today, and will expand eastward into the Plains tonight. Farther east, an eastern U.S. trough will continue departing into the western Atlantic, while ridging shifts eastward in its wake, and ahead of the expanding western U.S. cyclonic flow.

Lingering cold weather continues this morning with all locations well below freezing. A storm system will arrive tonight bringing widespread freezing rain to the area. The first areas to receive
ice will be in eastern OK from 6-9 PM, ice potential will then spread east to AR, mainly after 9 PM. Treacherous driving conditions are possible this evening.
