Formatting or reformatting a drive does not securely delete all of the data from it. Unless a drive or memory card is securely erased, data recovery software can be used to recover data from the previous iteration of the file system.

This video illustrates how to securely erase hard disk drives (HDDs), solid state drives (SSDs), USB drives, and memory cards using the data recovery application R-Studio.

DATA RECOVERY PROCEDURE:
--------------------------------------------------
1. Launch R-Studio.
2. Connect the drive or memory card to be securely erased. If the drive does not appear in the Device View, press the Refresh Button in the toolbar.
3. Right-click on the drive or memory device to securely erase and select Wipe from the menu.
4. Select the desired wiping algorithm to use. More passes take more time to finish but more securely wipe the memory.
5. In most cases, the single pass option which fills the drive or memory card with all zeros is sufficient to delete almost all of the data from the drive or memory. All of the user-accessible data is securely deleted.
6. If a memory card or drive is being sold or permanently discarded, the other higher-pass options more securely erase the memory device and reduce the probability of recovering any data from the previous iteration of the file system.
