Chuck Connors was an American actor best known for his roles in Western films and television series. He was born Charles William Connors in Brooklyn, New York, on October 10, 1921. Connors served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. After the war, he began his acting career in theater and eventually made his way to Hollywood.

Connors's first major film role was in the 1952 Western "Pat and Mike." He went on to star in many other Westerns, including "The Rifleman" (1958-1963), "Brannigan" (1960), and "Major Dundee" (1965). Connors also appeared in a number of non-Western films, such as "Good Neighbor Sam" (1964) and "Soylent Green" (1973).

In addition to his film work, Connors had a long and successful career in television. He starred in the Western series "The Rifleman" for five seasons and later guest-starred on many other shows, including "The Love Boat," "Murder, She Wrote," and "Walker, Texas Ranger."

Connors died of pneumonia on November 1, 1992, at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children.
