Olde Marco Hotel 1883 Marco Island, Florida 1/20/24 Ray

Although Marco Island history goes back 4,000 years, at least they say and a companion of Columbus, Juan Ponce de Leon, led the first European exploration of Florida from Puerto Rico in 1513. William Thomas (W.T.) Collier is credited with the founding of Marco Island when he arrived at the north end of the island in 1870, presently Old Marco Village. Later in 1883 a hotel was built called OLDE MARCO INN
