House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is swiftly realizing the challenge of pleasing all factions within his party, a lesson learned by his predecessor.

In under three months since securing the speaker’s gavel, the Louisiana Republican has navigated through significant votes that risked dividing the GOP conference.

Attempting to maintain party unity, Johnson avoided tough decisions that could provoke dissent, placing him in a challenging position as he leads his party into negotiations with Democrats on various issues.

Recently, the House passed a continuing resolution to temporarily extend government funding, preventing a weekend shutdown and postponing spending deadlines for fiscal 2024 for the third time, the Washington Examiner reported.
