But that’s like, how far back I’m going with these songs.

This is LORE.
The Berlin Wall was still a current topic, and one of the biggest things to happen in my childhood… plus I had just heard this thing about the iconic ms Monroe marrying some super famous baseball player? Idk cos at the time I think I thought he was a tennis player… I wasn’t that knowledgeable about American celebrities.

This was more just about me struggling with being in school and trying to focus on my school or homework, it all felt kinda pointless tbh. Things were slowly getting worse at home and secondary school bullying was unlike anything I’d ever experienced.
Taking into account that I figured I wouldn’t even live to see my final exams: was there a point in studying?

“Running away” this time usually entails me picking a direction that might lead out of town and “chippin’ off” as I would’ve coined at the time (translation: booking’ it, legging it, peeling out) and going only as far as I could get before it got dark and scary…
I’d usually make a beeline for grandmas house after that.

But I tried…
bless my socks (one time the asshole threw me out in just my socks and I walked to the other side of town down back dirt roads around the fields to get to grandmas house cos I was embarrassed to let anyone from school see me in just socks walking down the shopping arcade and have more ammunition to use and bully me for being a peasant) so I ended up at grandmas but usually taking the long way round.

Luckily granddad kept my uncle’s old shoes for me to put on, while he made me some oxtail soup and let mum know where I was.
I did try to get out… more on my runaway attempts/adventures later.
