Philip R. Clarke Is The Last Ship Through The Soo Locks For The Season

Watching the first ship through the Soo Locks to kick off another shipping season is always a celebration that attracts many. However, watching the last ship through is always a sad one for boat enthusiast.
The Soo Locks officially closed nearly 12 hours later than scheduled on Wednesday. with the 748-foot Philip R. Clarke being the last ship through for the season.
The Soo Locks will now go under extreme repair and upkeep during the winter months, with the1,200-foot Poe Lock set to reopen March 25 and the 800-foot MacArthur Lock will reopen April 24.
