It was an age of exploration and discovery in which sailors and ships challenged the dangerous seas to find new trade routes and land. First, Portuguese ships, then Spanish and finally, in the late 15th and early 16th centuries, British, French and Dutch ships set out to discover a New World. Henry the Navigator, Diaz, Columbus and others are studied.
