Rights activist Fail Alsynov was sentenced to four years in a penal colony on Wednesday (January 17) in the Russian republic of Bashkortostan after a court found him guilty of inciting ethnic hatred, prompting clashes between his supporters and police. Local news footage from RusNews showed a crowd gathered in protest at the sentence.
