My author interview with developmental editor Rob Bignell taught me so much about writing engaging dialogue during story telling. Rob is a long time editor and author, talks about how we can write tighter dialogue. He teaches us what to avoid, what to include, and what to watch out for. We discuss such things as avoiding filler dialogue and how it stops the story from moving forward. Moving our story forward is our main objective regardless of the scene. We also discuss how conversation in books should not exactly mirror real conversation, but should rather suggest real conversation. I, as always, deeply appreciated his knowledge of story telling.
