Volocopter aims to obtain certification in Paris, known for its stringent over-flight regulations, in an effort to dispel the perception of flying taxis as mere science fiction novelties.

Volocopter’s CEO, Dirk Hoke, asserted, “If you can fly in Paris, you can fly in any city in the world.”

The company’s “VoloCity” is a two-seat electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, resembling a sizable insect adorned with 18 rotors.

Volocopter aspires to achieve the distinction of being the first such aircraft certified by both EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) and the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), representing European and US civil aviation security agencies, respectively, France24 reported.
