Alcohol Delivery Service Drizly, Is Shutting Down. Uber bought Drizly for $1.1 billion in 2021. The rideshare company intended to integrate the alcohol delivery service into Uber Eats but never did. Now, Drizly will be shut down by March 2024, TechCrunch reports. “After three years of Drizly operating independently within the Uber family, we’ve decided to close the business and focus on our core Uber Eats strategy of helping consumers get almost anything – from food to groceries to alcohol – all on a single app.” Pierre Dimitri Gore-Coty, SVP of Delivery at Uber, via statement: “We’re grateful to the Drizly team for their many contributions to the growth of the BevAlc delivery category as the original industry pioneer.” Uber Eats currently delivers alcohol in 35 states and 25 countries, TechCrunch reports. New Uber Eats features include a chatbot to help users and the ability to order from two stores at once. Prior to purchasing Drizly, Uber bought Postmates for $2.65 billion.
