Good Praise

So often, parents praise their children for their accomplishments and not for who they really are. Praising them just for their accomplishments leaves children with an empty feeling and puts stress on them to achieve even more. What children want is the love of their parents. Yes, children need boundaries and to have more responsibilities as they grow older, but they need a foundation of over being loved and being known for who they are. Often parents have an ideal of who their child should be and get in the way of the child flowering in their own way. Praise is necessary, but just praising accomplishments does more harm than good.
