Runs 2:14 | The Lions snapped defeated the Rams 16-13 in Anaheim, despite the Rams desperate comeback attempt sparked by second year QB T.J. Rubley. For nearly three quarters, the defensive units of both teams dominated. Detroit QB Rodney Peete (15-of-25 for 249-yards) went to work in the fourth quarter as he led the Lions on a 13-play, 94-yard drive that consumed 7:46 of game clock capped by a 5-yard TD run by Barry Sanders. Rubley, who replaced an ineffective Jim Everett, threw two fourth quarter TDs. Fortunately for the Lions, Tony Zendejas failed on the point after attempt with 1:52 remaining, and the score remained tied at 13-13. Vernon Turner returned the ensuing kick-off 45 yards to the Rams 44-yard line. Peete connected with TE Rodney Holman for a 25-yard gain to the Rams 1-yard line and Jason Hanson kicked the game wining chip shot before the game could proceed into overtime.
