ROSCREA RACKET HALL HOTEL RESIDENTS WILL RECEIVE A DEBIT CARD for weekly shopping and the Department of Children's (et al) briefing notes describe the hotel as "a four star resort with high speed WiFi and ample recreational space and self-catering facilities.

The Garda Public Order Unit was deployed to, it seems, forcibly end the protesters standoff today.

Heavy-handed tactics to force protesters out of the way, in what may indicate a change of tactic for the state.

It was reported "17 people" moved into the hotel on Monday and given the use of the word people, perhaps it can be assumed it was men (if it was women and children they would be at pains to say this).

The Racket Hall Hotel is due to house 160 "people" in total. The state said it's facing an "urgent situation" in trying to find accommodation so that "asylum seekers don't become homeless."

The people of Roscrea have made a forthright and brave stand, and this follows on from other Tipperary residents saying a firm no just a few weeks ago when a homeless hostel in Cashel attempted to close its doors to Irish women and children and open its doors to single men. The Department of Children stated at the time that it was its job to find accommodation for asylum seekers regardless of who they displaced to do so.

Clearly the department should not be called department of children given it prioritises the needs of single unvetted men over the needs of homeless kids.

Well done to the people of Roscrea (and Cashel) who've made a resolute stand against the plantation. #IrelandIsFull #RoscreaSaysNo #SendThemBack #TakeBackOurCountry #IrelandForTheIrish ☘️
