As an anti-apartheid hero and first president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela said in 1997, 'We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.'

Mandela's grandson, Mandla, is continuing his family's legacy of defending humanity, particularly the Palestinian people. Recently, South Africa took the stand in The Hague against Israel's siege and bombardment of the Gaza Strip, home to more than 2 million people. Mandela lauded his country for charging Israel with violating the 1948 United Nations Genocide Convention at the International Court of Justice.
