"The Simplicity of Discipleship" Acts 18:23-28
2 things that are often more heavily emphasized one over the other in the life of the believer are evangelism and discipleship. But scripture commissions us to occupy ourselves with both.
In Mark 16:15, Jesus said “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
He also said in Matt 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you…”
In this study, we focus in on the importance of discipleship as Aquila & Priscilla hear the preaching of a man named Apollos who was eloquent, mighty in the scriptures, instructed in the way of the Lord, fervent in spirit and who taught accurately the things of the Lord.
But…he only knew the baptism of John, meaning, his message was incomplete. As a result, they tactfully took him aside and discipled him by teaching him “the way of God more accurately.” There was no fanfare or agreements to sign. The process was simple and effective.
Are you sharing your faith with others? If so, that’s fantastic. But how are you doing in the area of discipleship? It’s imperative that we take the time to invest in others because by doing both, we are fulfilling the commission of Jesus.

ACTS CHAPTER 18:23-28
PAUL’S THIRD MISSIONARY JOURNEY BEGINS
23 After he had spent some time there, he departed and went over the region of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
Ministry of Apollos
24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. 27 And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace; 28 for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.
