Let The Games Begin In The Upper Peninsula

Despite the storms this past weekend, The Special Olympics U.P. Regional Winter Games are off and running.

They did, however, have to postpone the kickoff from Saturday, to Sunday.

Athletes of all ages are competing, with Sunday starting with cross country skiing, alpine skiing and snowshoeing.

Athletes from Sunday will move up to compete in Traverse City for the state-level competition at the end of this month.

Officials stated in their press release how important these games are for the mental and physical health of the athletes.
