NEW: Ecuadorean television station is taken hostage by armed thugs during a live broadcast.

The staff was told to lie down on the floor as gun shots could be heard in the background.
The incident comes as gangs continue to take over the streets in Ecuador after President Daniel Noboa declared a 60-day state of emergency.
Seven police officers were recently kidnapped as well as reports of large explosions.
