This album is a tribute by Muddy Waters to Big Bill Broonzy (died 1958).

It was released in 1960 on Chess Records. This is a 2016 CD re-issue on the Pickwick International label.

Big Bill Broonzy was one of the leading figures in blues between the late 1920's and early 1950's. Muddy Waters was a fan of Big Bill Broonzy but, ironically, it was the electric blues of musicians like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf that eclipsed the acoustic country blues performed by Big Bill Broonzy and led to the decline of Big Bill Broonzy's career in the early 1950's.
