HERO Vermont State Trooper jumps into freezing pond to save 8-year-old from drowning

On December 18, an incident occurred in Cambridge, Vermont where two children fell into a pond. An 80-year-old homeowner saved a 6-year-old girl near the shore, but an 8-year-old was further out. The homeowner called 911 and Vermont State Police trooper Michelle Archer arrived within five minutes. Archer swam to the girl, secured her, and brought her back to shore. Trooper Keith Cote transported the girl to an ambulance. The girl's injuries were initially thought to be life-threatening, but she has since fully recovered and returned home
