Hunter Biden agrees to deposition as House moves toward contempt resolution

On Friday, an attorney representing Hunter Biden informed House Republican committee chairs that he is willing to comply with subpoenas for his deposition if they issue new ones.

This marks a reversal from his previous stance, where he insisted that his testimony be conducted in a public hearing.

The unexpected offer comes two days after two House committees passed resolutions recommending contempt of Congress for Hunter Biden for defying earlier subpoenas.

Hunter Biden appeared at the hearing of one of these panels before the vote, silently confronting GOP lawmakers seeking his deposition for an inquiry into the potential impeachment of President Joe Biden.

A full House vote on the contempt resolutions was anticipated next week, but Hunter Biden’s willingness to be deposed may alter this timeline, CNBC reported.
